Representative Baseball Program Player Expectations

PROGRAM PLAYER EXPECTATIONS

MWDBA – Baseball for All Ages

Representing Manly is an exciting opportunity to test your skills, work hard and compete at a higher level. With this opportunity comes a responsibility to yourself, your team and your club to give it your best – on and off the field. Here’s what’s expected of you as a representative player.

1. Be Committed to Your Team

  • Be There, Be Ready: Show up to every training, game and team event on time and fully prepared. Your team relies on you, and being ready shows respect for your teammates and coaches.
  • Give It Your All: Whether it’s a big game or a midweek practice, always bring your best effort. The harder you work now, the better you’ll get.
  • Keep the Lines Open: If you can’t make it to training or a game, let your coach know as early as possible. Clear communication keeps your team on track.

2. Play with Pride

  • Wear It Proud: Respect the Manly uniform you’re wearing. Play hard, stay humble and show respect to everyone involved in the game – teammates, coaches, umpires and opponents.
  • Set the Standard: Younger players look up to you, and your attitude sets the tone. Lead by example with your effort, respect and sportsmanship.
  • Show Gratitude: Appreciate the opportunity to play at this level. Your family, coaches and teammates have all helped you get here, so show your thanks through your commitment and hard work.

3. Be a Great Teammate

  • Have Each Other’s Backs: Celebrate successes, help teammates improve and stick together through challenges. A strong team lifts each other up.
  • Stay Coachable: Listen to your coach’s feedback and trust their guidance. Every piece of advice is there to make you and your team better.
  • Build Team Culture: Bring positive energy to the field. A good attitude helps everyone perform at their best.

4. Always Strive to Improve

  • Set Goals and Smash Them: Push yourself to improve every time you step on the field. Talk to your coach about your goals and track your progress.
  • Bounce Back: Mistakes and losses are part of the game. Use them as opportunities to grow and come back stronger.
  • Step Up: Lead by example in the way you train, play and support your team. Leadership doesn’t mean being the loudest – it means doing what’s right for the team.

5. Play with Respect

  • Fair Play Comes First: Compete hard, but always with integrity. Respect the rules, the umpires and everyone involved in the game.
  • Win or Lose with Grace: Be gracious no matter the result. Every game is a chance to learn and improve.
  • Stay Positive: Keep your emotions in check. Support your teammates and focus on what you can control – your attitude and your effort.

6. Prioritise Your Well-being

  • Stay Healthy: Eat well, stay hydrated and rest so you can bring your best to every session and game. Your health matters as much as your skills.
  • Speak Up for Help: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed or struggling, talk to your coach, your family or a teammate. Asking for help is a sign of strength.
  • Balance Baseball and Life: Remember, baseball is important, but so are school, family and other activities. Keep things balanced so you can enjoy the journey.

Your Commitment

By being part of the Manly Rep Team, you’re agreeing to meet these expectations and contribute to the success of your team. It’s a big responsibility, but it’s also an incredible opportunity to grow as a player, a teammate and a person. Let’s make every season one to be proud of.
