MWDBA Junior Representative Team

Background

MWDBA is responsible for the provision of representative pathway programs and opportunities to junior players who play in its associated competitions. These programs cater for players aged 9-15 years and consist of a ‘Development’ phase and an ‘Representative’ phase.

The Manager (Head Coach) MWDBA Junior Represntative Team will be responsible for the delivery of on-field operations of the team and to ensure that an enjoyable, effective and high-quality baseball program is delivered to all participants. The Representative program takes place from late January to April/May/June depending upon the age group and success of the team.

Ultimately, MWDBA seeks to deliver a program that enables MWDBA Representative teams to be competitive and succeed at State and National Championships.

What you have to do to succeed?

  • Commit to following and implementing the ‘Manly Junior Representative Baseball Program – Playing Philosophy’
  • Abide by the ’Manly Junior Representative Baseball Program – Coaching Philosophy’
  • Commit to coaching under the parameters outlined in ‘Manly Junior Representative Baseball Program – Coach Expectations’
  • Assist with selection trials for nominated ‘League Age’ Representative Teams
  • Develop and deliver training programs in consultation with the Head Coach Manly Junior Representative Program
  • Learn and understand how to implement all associated tournament and competition rules
  • Set game day rosters and plans in consultation with the Head Coach Manly Junior Representative Program and any appropriate specialist coaches.
  • Manage game day operations for your team
  • Attend meetings and workshops as scheduled by the Head Coach Manly Junior Representative Program
  • Provide effective leadership for other coaches and athletes that ensures the safety and wellbeing of all participants
  • Provide ongoing support to coaches and players as required
  • Liaise regularly and as necessary with the Manly Representative Coordinator
  • Work with ‘club’ coaches as necessary and provide any restricted player information in a timely manner
  • Work with specialist and other coaches at Representative Program Training sessions

What do you need to succeed?

  • Level 3 or 4 Baseball Australia Coaching Accreditation or Level B USA Baseball Coaching Accreditation with significant high level playing experience
  • Experience coaching at various levels of baseball
  • Understanding of and ability to incorporate and implement ‘Positive Coaching’ into program development and coaching methodology
  • Willingness to continue to develop as a coach and to participate coach education workshops and sub-groups
