About Junior Representative Program

ABOUT US

MWDBA – Baseball for All Ages

Manly Warringah District Baseball Association (MWDBA) is responsible for providing representative pathway opportunities for players aged from 8-16 years. Players who are registered members of an affiliated club are eligible to trial for any of the various programs that MWDBA facilitates.

Whilst there are developmental aspects of this program, it is essential that parents and players understand that this is a representative program and the strongest players in specific positions will play most of the game time in those positions (please see specific program information for greater clarity on this). Your child may be asked to play in a position that he/she does not play in ‘club’ baseball if it is deemed in the best interests of the program and/or their specific personal development as a baseball player at this level.

The MWDBA program operates in three phases:

  • Off-Season Development Program (July and August)
  • Representative Development Program (September to January)
  • All-Star Season (February to April/May/June)

The following team or development group designators are used:

  • Rookies – for League Age 8/9/10 players who play in the ‘Zooka’ competition
  • Little League 10/11 – for League Age 9/10/11 players
  • Little League Majors – for League Age 10/11/12 players
  • Intermediate League – for League Age 11/12/13 players
  • Junior League – for League Age 12/13/14 players
  • Senior League – for League Age 13/14/15/16 players

* Some groups do not participate in all three phases of the program.

Players who represent MWDBA are, by way of registering, committing to train and play within the framework of the ‘Manly Junior Representative Baseball Playing Philosophy’.

Players who are unable to commit to this philosophy and culture may be asked to leave the program.

Players who represent MWDBA are eligible to trial for Baseball New South Wales representative teams and High Performance Programs and can progress to Baseball Australia National Teams.
