Summer League came to a tense conclusion with the Grand Final being played and won at Aquatic Reserve on Saturday afternoon.
The crowds came, the rain came, but nothing could stop the Redbacks and the Forest Brewers from battling it out to see who would claim the Judy Head Memorial Trophy.
In the end it was the Forest Brewers that edged ahead early and managed to maintain their lead throughout despite some dogged comeback attempts by a determined Redbacks team led by Ben Logue. Forest took the win 9-6.
Logue and Todd Eisenhauer were strong on the mound for the Redbacks, however it was evergreen pitcher Dean Storey who took home the win, going 5 innings before Jeremy Markham came on to close it out.
Owen Harris led all comers with the bat, going 3-3 as well as taking a few crucial catches in the outfield.
Congratulations to both teams for stellar seasons. Forest finally get their name on the trophy after 27 years.
