The Manly Warringah District Baseball Association (MWDBA) Junior Representative Program provides aspiring players with the opportunity to challenge themselves, elevate their game, and compete at the highest levels of junior baseball.
The program is delivered across two representative seasons, offering development pathways for players of varying experience and skill levels. It is designed to help athletes refine their baseball abilities while building confidence, resilience, teamwork and lifelong friendships.
In recent years, the program has enjoyed outstanding success, with Manly teams claiming multiple Rookies, State and National Championship titles. As our program continues to grow, we remain committed to developing not only talented baseball players but also respectful, resilient young people who are proud to represent Manly both on and off the field.
Representative baseball is structured around two main seasons, on either side of the Summer school holidays.
Runs from September to December.
The Premier Cup is designed for the association’s highest-performing players, providing a best-on-best representative competition that challenges athletes to perform at the highest level and features fortnightly Sunday games against other associations, with training sessions held on alternate Sundays throughout the season.
The Worboys Cup complements this pathway by offering additional representative opportunities for a broader group of players to develop their skills and gain valuable game experience in a competitive environment and consists of three double-header competition days, with training sessions held on the alternate Sundays between competition days.
This format provides each team with six games across the season while maintaining a strong focus on player development, participation, and representative experience.

Rookies Cup
The Rookies Cup is a great introduction to representative baseball for players League Ages 8–10. Designed as an entry point into the MWDBA representative pathway, the program provides young athletes with the skills, confidence, and experience to progress to higher levels of representative baseball.
Throughout the program, players are introduced to representative training and competition while learning the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and resilience. The season culminates in an exciting one-day tournament, giving young athletes the opportunity to showcase their development and experience the excitement of representative baseball.

All Stars Program
The All Stars Program showcases MWDBA’s premier representative teams, bringing together the association’s highest-performing players to compete at the pinnacle of junior baseball. Teams compete at the NSW State Championships, with the opportunity to qualify for National Championships held in June/July.
This highly competitive program is designed to challenge and develop players in a high-performance environment, with a strong emphasis on advanced skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and representative excellence. The All Stars Program provides athletes with the opportunity to test themselves against the best talent in the country while proudly representing Manly on the state and national stage.
The All Girls Team programs are an exciting and growing part of MWDBA’s commitment to our young female athletes. These teams provide opportunities for young female players to compete in representative baseball in a supportive and empowering environment. Programs and tournaments include the Gaynor Cup, Girls U15 State Championship and other initiatives designed to foster skill development, teamwork and a love for the game.

Premier Cup & Worboys Cup Program
The Premier Cup and Worboys Cup programs provide exciting representative opportunities for players at different stages of their development. Together, they offer clear pathways for athletes to challenge themselves, develop their skills, and proudly represent MWDBA.
The Premier Cup is the association’s highest level of representative competition, bringing together the strongest players to compete in a best-on-best environment. The Worboys Cup complements this pathway by providing additional representative opportunities focused on player development, increased game experience, and participation.
Both programs emphasise skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and competitive excellence, preparing players to progress through the MWDBA representative pathway while fostering a lifelong passion for the game.

The 2026 season introduces a new structure for both the Premier Cup and the newly reimagined Worboys Cup, providing more opportunities for player development and high-quality representative baseball.
The NSW Premier Series, previously known as Sydney Cup, has been enhanced with some significant changes designed to increase game opportunities, support player development, and further raise the standard of competition.
The Premier Cup will consist of eight rounds, played on a fortnightly basis, from the 13 September to the 15 November, before culminating in a Finals Series held over the 28–29 November weekend.
Replacing the previous Association Cup format, the Worboys Cup returns with a fresh identity and an exciting new competition structure focused on participation and player development.
The competition will comprise of three one-day events, with each club playing six games across the season. Teams will compete over three double-header Sundays, playing two games on each match day, with the overall winner determined on a first-past-the-post basis.
All Worboys Cup fixtures will be scheduled during the Premier Cup and Gaynor Cup off-weeks, allowing players and families to maximise their representative opportunities throughout the season.
The Rookies Cup Program is a fantastic introduction to representative baseball for young players. It provides a fun, supportive environment where participants can develop their skills, build friendships, and gain confidence while preparing for higher levels of competition.
The program centers around the Rookies Cup Tournament, using the one-day event as the culmination of a month-long player development program. Through regular training sessions, players build their fundamental skills, learn the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and resilience, and experience the pride of representing MWDBA in a representative baseball environment.
The Rookies Cup culminates in an exciting one-day Zooka tournament, providing young players with the opportunity to compete, showcase their skills, and experience the excitement of representative baseball in a fun and supportive environment.
Depending on player numbers, skill level, and coach availability, MWDBA may enter teams across up to four division levels, as well as an All Girls division. This flexible structure allows players of varying abilities to participate in meaningful competition while continuing to develop their skills and confidence within the representative pathway.
The All Stars program is for MWDBA’s elite players selected to represent Manly at the State Championships. The All Stars season is centered around rigorous training and skill development in the lead up to the tournament. This highly competitive program prepares players to showcase their talents and take their game to the next level, with opportunities for both personal growth and team success. Participating players are expected to bring their best to every session and game, maintain a positive attitude, and support their teammates.
Teams only proceed to the National Championship tournament if they qualify through the State Championship. Typically the top two teams from the NSW State Championships proceed to Nationals, though an invitation may also be extended to the 3rd place team. The State Championships are held during the April school holidays, with specific locations and dates provided below as soon as that information becomes available. Players and parents should be available for the National Championships if their team qualifies.
Teams who win their respective National Championship (other than the Little League Invitational) earn the opportunity to represent Australia at World Series competitions in the United States.

These teams provide players with the opportunity to compete at a representative level, develop their skills in a supportive environment, and experience the camaraderie and confidence that comes from playing alongside other girls who share their passion for the game.

In recent years, the Rookies Cup has included an All Girls competition, with Manly-Warringah proudly fielding a representative team. This initiative provides young female players with an exciting opportunity to experience representative baseball in a supportive and inclusive environment while developing their skills and confidence.
Girls interested in being considered for the All Girls team should register and attend the standard Rookies Cup trial process. Team selections will be made from these trials, providing all players with an equal opportunity to be part of the representative program.
The 2026 Gaynor Cup continues to build on the momentum and success of the past two editions, reflecting the ongoing growth of girls’ baseball across New South Wales. The continued development of the women’s game is paramount to the future of baseball in NSW, and the Gaynor Cup remains a key pathway for developing the next generation of representative athletes.
The competition will feature Under 13 and Under 16 age groups, aligned with the Premier Cup schedule to provide high-level representative competition for girls preparing for the NSW State Championships and the Australian Youth Women’s Championship (AYWC).
