Junior Representative Program

MWDBA is responsible for the providing representative pathway programs and opportunities to junior players who play in its associated competitions. These programs cater for players aged 9-15 years and consist of a ‘Development’ phase and an ‘All Star’ phase.

The Head Coach MWDBA Junior Representative Program will oversee on-field operations to ensure that an enjoyable, effective and high-quality baseball program is delivered to all participants. Ultimately, MWDBA seeks to deliver a program that enables MWDBA All Star teams to be competitive and succeed at State and National Championships.

Task of the Head Coach:

  • Assist the MWDBA Representative Committee to determine how programs will run and which events MWDBA will enter
  • Assist the MWDBA Representative Committee to establish a Representative Calendar and timeline for events
  • Recruit suitably qualified and experienced coaches and sit on the Representative Coach Selection Panel as required
  • Develop and implement an MWDBA ‘Playing Philosophy’ the articulates the ‘way we play baseball at Manly’
  • Mentor, educate and train coaches both on the field and in regular workshops and forums
  • Provide effective leadership for coaches and athletes that ensures the safety and wellbeing of all participants
  • Oversee selection trials and establish procedures to ensure fairness, equity and transparency
  • Assist coaches with the development of training plans and programs
  • Provide ongoing support to coaches and players

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum Level 3 but preferably Level 4 Baseball Australia Coaching Accreditation
  • Experience coaching in state and or national baseball programs
  • Understanding of and ability to incorporate and implement ‘Positive Coaching’ into program development
  • Experience successfully acting as a coaching mentor or in a coach development capacity
